The Canmore Museum & Geoscience Centre is excited to offer all new permanent exhibits “From Coal to Community“.
The exhibits present Canmore in a variety of perspectives: as an ancient way station for local First Nations, as an integral part of the Canadian Pacific Railway’s Western expansion, as a 90-year historic coal-mining community, as an excellent venue to study and observe the history of the Earth, and as a modern and vibrant community that attracts people from all over the world. The exhibit has been in development for the past two years and is a celebration of Canmore’s unique history and geographical marvels.
(Opening weekend – Sat, March 5 and Sun, March 6 – gave our visitors a chance to see the exhibit at a reduced rate: $2 per person on those days, with the exception of children 12 and under, who are always admitted free of charge. Museum staff and volunteers were on hand to guide visitors through the new exhibits.)
For more information, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 403-678-2462.

Come join the Canmore Museum & Geoscience Centre for World Wide Knitting in Public (WWKIP) day on Saturday, June 13th, from 11 am till 2 pm, in the Civic Centre Atrium. WWKIP is known to be the world’s largest knitter event as we will knit with hundreds of other knitters around the world on the same day!

We are also looking for volunteers who would be able to give a hand in set-up, take-down, or teaching participants how to knit. Please contact the Canmore Museum by email (email@example.com) or phone (403-678-2462) if you are interested in joining us in this international event!
After the Civic Centre flood in January 2014 we have been working on a new concept for the gallery space at the Museum. We have commenced work on this project which you can visualise by looking at the electronic version of our Exhibit Concept brochure.
