Join the Canmore Museum & Geoscience Centre for our annual milk jug curling event at the NWMP Barracks, Main Street. Have a go at curling frozen milk jugs down our curling surfaces.
The event looks to remember when jam pails and brooms were used on ponds in the Bow Valley to replicate curling.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Family friendly and free of charge.

On Saturday 28th September Canmore Museum and the NWMP Barracks will be hosting an event for Alberta Culture Days.
From 11am to 3pm at the NWMP Barracks, Main Street we will be hosting the following events:
· Children’s crafts. Have a go at Styrofoam printing. The masterpieces that are produced will have the chance to feature in our Canmore Recipe Book to be launched in 2014.
· Recipe Swap. Bring along your best family recipe and exchange it for a new recipe that could become a family favorite! We are looking for cooking recipes, recipes for homemade cosmetics as well as homemade remedies for coughs, colds and scratches. We will be compiling these recipes into a recipe book to be launched and sold in 2014.
· Live music. Come and listen to The Wardens play on our front porch.
The NWMP Barracks, built in 1893 to house Canmore’s police force, will also be open for tours as usual during this time. The Barracks will also be hosting Art in the Park from 9.30am where local Canmore artists display and sell their artwork. Art in the Park happens every weekend until Thanksgiving.
As part of our Heritage Open House on August 10, we are putting together a community mosaic! Come to the museum to pick up your blank business card or use one that you have at home. On it, draw a picture of what Canmore means to you, and return it to the museum to be part of this exciting “Your Canmore” community mosaic! All ages and drawing abilities are welcome to participate. Photographs are also allowed, as long as they are standard business card size. See accompanying poster or contact museum for more info.
