2012-2013 Ski Season passes at The Museum.
For the past nine years The Centennial Museum Society of Canmore (Museum) has purchased two corporate Sunshine Village ski passes (totaling 200 uses) for free use by the Museum’s members as a benefit of membership. This fabulous deal has been made possible by a very generous donation by an anonymous individual, totalling about $60,000 over the years. It was hoped that this would bring in more members who would perhaps return the favour with help for the Museum in terms of volunteer time, perhaps a cash donation and being generally good-will ambassadors for the Museum. The cost of acquiring these passes has more than doubled over the years and records show that the objectives of the program have not been met. The donor was reluctant to continue sponsoring the program in the current format. There are also costs involved in administering this program.
After discussion with the donor, the Museum Board decided to refocus the objective of the program to improve directly the Museum’s financial situation. The Museum thus approached Sunshine Village and negotiated a new deal whereby Sunshine Village has agreed that we can sell the passes for “at least $30 each”. This is less than half the cost of a normal adult pass, representing a substantial benefit for members. The donor has agreed to fund the program for this year under this new agreement.
The Museum is grateful to Sunshine Village for agreeing to let us sell the passes at a reduced rate and we wholeheartedly thank them for supporting the Museum in this way. The current program would not be in place without their support! Please thank Sunshine personally when picking up the ski passes for usage.
The snow has arrived! Please go and enjoy the upcoming ski season at Sunshine Village – at less than half price, thanks to Sunshine Village, the donor and the Museum!
Thank you,
Rick Green,
President. Centennial Museum Society of Canmore
