2016 Kids Summer Programs
Jurassic Camp 5-6 years Jul 14 or Aug 4 9am-12noon
An introduction to the world of ‘Terrible Lizards’. The camp is a mix of crafts and activities all about dinosaurs. Activities will include: Dino puzzles, make-your-own dinosaur name, digging for fossils, and more.
Backyard Science 7-9 years Jul 14 or Aug 4 1-4pm
This camp is all about introducing campers to fun science experiments using basic materials that can be conducted in the backyard. Through hands-on experimentation, campers will explore buoyancy, light, magnetism, earth science and more.
Crime Solvers & Law Enforcers: Past & Present
7-8 years Jul 20-21 or Aug 10-11 9am-4pm
9-10 years Jul 27-28 9am-4pm
In this two-day camp, campers will learn about the history and present of law enforcement in the Canmore area. Campers will be asked to tap into their skills of deduction to solve crimes, be introduced to fingerprinting and analysis, play police-themed games, do marching drills and much more. The camp will include visits from local law enforcement bodies with interactive talks and activities.
The Great Outdoors! 9-11 years Jul 6-7 or Aug 17-18 9am-4pm
This two-day camp will see campers explore the history and geology of Canmore through hiking and being outside. The first day will be all about coal. Former mine engineer Gerry Stephenson will help lead mine activities at the Canmore museum in the morning and will conduct a tour of the historic No.1 mine and Quarry Lake in the afternoon. The second day will consist of a venture to Cougar Creek where campers will learn about the 2013 flood, local geology and wildlife awareness through hands-on and fun activities. (Note: Day One pick up will be at Quarry Lake. All other pick-up and drop offs for this camp will be at the Canmore Museum)
